Fork lift trucks & telescopic material handlers - LANTRA integrated Training & Assessment
Training is legal requirement. The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1988 (PUWER) require employers to ensure that lift trucks are operated only by employees who have received appropriate training and assessment in accordance with the Codes of Practice for Lift Trucks laid down by the Health & Safety Commission. The Code of Practice recognizes Lantra Awards as an accrediting body for the training and assessment of lift truck operators.

Starting/stopping:
- Visual checks/maintenance
- Mounting dismounting
- Controls and instruments
- Starts/move off
- Safe parking and stopping
Operating:
- Stability
- Load centres
- Rating/duration
General driving:
- Use of controls and duration instruments
- Breaking/acceleration
- Position/turning/straightening
- Rear end swing
- Hydraulic controls
- Use of lift/tilt (boom)
- Fork position
- Use of controls and instruments
- Use of hand brake
- Driving with pallet
- Stacking/destacking
- Loading vehicles/checks
- Side shift/swing in
- Undercutting
Bulk materials:
- Change attachment
- Stability and positioning
- Use of lift/tilt (boom)
- Loading high sided vehicles
- Use of traction aids for driving on rough terrain

Course Duration: Between 2 and 6 days, depending on trainee’s experience
Maximum number of trainees: Three
