1.Manual Handling (Safe Lifting) - Certificate of Attendance
Health and safety in the workplace is regulated by law through the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. The Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 requires employers to identify and avoid the risk of injury from manual handling operations.
Related to these are the requirements of the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 1995. (RIDDOR)
Course objective:
- How to prevent injury when moving things by hand
Course content:
- Job planning to avoid manual handling
- Posture whilst working
- How poor working practices can lead to ill health
- Lifting and lowering
- Carrying
- Use of mechanical aids
- Pulling
- Pushing
- Two - person operations
Course duration: Three hours
Maximum number of trainees per course: Ten

2. Emergency First Aid - Certificate of attendance
The Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 require employers to have adequate arrangements for first aid and lay down procedures for dealing with emergencies. At least one person must be appointed and trained to take charge of first aid arrangements.
Related to these are the requirements of the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 1995.
This course is the minimum training recommended for prospective ‘appointed’ first aiders in the workplace
Course objectives:
- How to recognize different injuries and major illnesses
- How to administer appropriate emergency first aid
- The latest first aid techniques to update your skills
Course content:
- Assessing situations and taking appropriate action
- including informing emergency services
- Artificial ventilations and chest compressions
- Recovery position
- Clearing obstructed airways
- Controlling severe bleeding
- Recognising and treating shock
- Requirements of a first aid kit
- Reporting accidents in the workplace
- Head injuries
- Major illnesses
- Burns, scalds, poisons and fractures
- Chemical contamination
Course duration: One day
Maximum number of trainees per course Twelve

3. Basic Food Hygiene - Assessment by Royal Institute of Public Health & Hygiene
Food business operators shall ensure that food handlers are supervised and instructed and/or trained in food hygiene matters commensurate with their work activity. The aim of this course is to prepare those working with/or handling food for the primary certificate in food hygiene.
Course content:
- Introduction to food handling
- Food contamination
- Food poisoning and food borne disease
- Preparation and handling of food
- Personal hygiene
- The law
- Food premises
- Storage and temperature of food
- Cleaning and disinfection
- Pest control
- RIPHH examination
Course duration: One day
Maximum number of trainees per course: Twelve

4. Health & Safety & Risk Assessment: Certificate of Attendance Course
objectives are to enable course members to:
- Understand the intention of the Health & Safety at Work Act and how it applies to their employment
- Identify other legislation and regulations applying to their employment
- Understand their roles and responsibilities regarding Health and Safety
- Understand how to deal with accidents and breakdowns in control measures
- Understand and follow the correct procedures in case of emergency
- Understand the need for Health & Safety documentation and to make and use records
Course content:
- Introduction to legislation
- Practical sessions in workplace
- Health & Safety Policy
- C.O.S.H.H.
- Risk assessment
- Personal safety
- Reporting problems
Course duration: One day
